Social media credibility of tourist destinations

Abstract

The aim of this article is studying how tourist use official social media of tourism destinations when look for information during the three phases of the trip (before, during and after) and the level of credibility that tourists give to these social media. A combination of quantitative and qualitative methodological techniques is proposed. In concrete, a survey about consumption habits of tourist on line information of Spanish travelers; and a focus group with travelers that use social media. Among results, we can highlight that users give more credibility to Tripadvisor, to official Facebook site of a tourism destination and to travel blogs, because they comprehend opinions and experiences of other users.
