Collaborative co-creation: approaches during the coronavirus crisis and the restrictions on mobility

Collaborative media has historically been based on developing collective processes with participants. In these processes, the shared space was fundamental for the success of some of the social objectives. But the COVID-19 crisis brought with it quarantines and mobility restrictions. This research identifies and analyses approaches applied to this type of creation during the pandemic to react to these limitations. To do so, we used a qualitative method with the analysis of two case studies that were initiated in response to the pandemic and produced during lockdown: Nos roban todo, menos la rabia (colectivo LASTESIS, 2020) and Reinventadas (Sonja Marzi, 2021). We have analysed their production process, their collaboration dynamics and their content. Although the public space was restricted, both cases place the role of space in the center by exploring its transformation as a consequence of the crisis and by exposing and denouncing the social emergencies that this transformation has generated. In addition, the case studies offer two different approaches in their collaborative work. The research raises new perspectives about this type of media production and its adaptation to the virtual environment.
