The history of Romani people is the history of a people that did not write its own history (Gómez Alfaro, 2000). However, this reality is changing in recent decades thanks to the historiographic reviews and research promoted by the new generations of Roma in different disciplines and countries. In the cinematographic field, the Romani people have historically been represented in European cinemas, in general, and in Spanish cinema, in particular, as an eternal racial otherness. In recent decades, advances in human rights and the digital context have encouraged Roma filmmakers from different backgrounds to join forces at a transnational level to change these representation policies in a structural way. In this line, platforms such as RomArchive contribute to the impulse of an audiovisual counter-canon enunciated from a Romani situated knowledge. This article focuses on the film section of that archive, in order to study the works of Spanish Roma filmmakers who, with their works, contribute to the decolonization of ethno-racial modes of representation in a national and transnational context. The methodology employed for this purpose is the film and bibliographic review, the film analysis of their works and the in-depth interview with the filmmakers.
