The aim of this paper is to analyze the sociodemographic, economic, political and media factors that predict the consumption of podcasts for information purposes in Spain. We used data from the latest CIS study on media audiences (autumn 2023), which includes a question on the habit of obtaining information through this medium. For this purpose, studies were applied using inferential statistics based on correlational models and linear and logistic regressions. The regression models confirm that age is the sociodemographic factor that best predicts informative podcast consumption: those under 45 years double the probability of getting information using this medium. There is also a strong association between podcast information consumption and voting for national political options situated at the extremes of the ideological scale (Vox and Sumar). Moreover, the fact of being a regular reader of newspapers that use podcasts as part of their news offer is a predictor of listening to the medium in order to be informed. This last fact highlights the relevant role of traditional journalism in the promotion of the podcast as an informative medium.
